Cut Above Leadership Films
So when ‘Sit Down Shut Up & Watch’ (SDSW), a disability film group, decided it was time to build individual and organisational capacity and increase the number of leaders with a learning disability, we had a look at Glenn Llopis’ leadership list in Forbes Magazine. Then, we took off around regional South Australia with the idea of turning these principles into 15 short films. SDSW collaborated with creatives with a learning disability in Brighton, Clare, the Barossa, Whyalla and Ceduna.
In post-production, it was determined that there should be narration over the title cards to enhance disability accessibility.
Michael was approached and here are some of the films with his narration.

1. Make others feel safe to speak up (1:43)
Successful leaders don’t always draw attention to themselves. They encourage others to speak and give their opinions. This can sometimes mean stepping out of the spotlight and giving someone less confident than you the microphone.

Being accountable requires open and honest communication. If you say you will do something, you need to do it, or tell others if there is a problem.

A successful leader notices when feedback is needed and provides help and advice, rather than waiting for things to go wrong. If its words that motivate you, they say the right ones – ‘That was awesome, Laura’.

15. Genuinely enjoying responsibilities (1:49)
Successful leaders love being leaders not because of power and money but because of the meaningful impact they make. Leaders enjoy what they do and care about the people they serve and have an impact on.
